Princeton residents one step closer to eMeters

Princeton residents are one step closer to saving on their utility bills. The city council has approved Connecting Point Computer Centers of Peru to train public works employees on eMeters. These devices will replace traditional utility meters and send energy usage to Public works. City Electrical Supervisor Jason Bird says it is a very technical system and connecting point will train for 5 to 8 months based on hours. EMeters are SmartGrid technology being developed locally with the help federal grants. Bird says residential and commercial owners could save 17 to 44 on utility bills. EMeter…an Atlanta based company…has allowed Princeton to bid out training to Connecting Point. City electrical superintendent Jason Bird says having a local company conduct the training will allow greater accessibility for city employees.
