Bureau County Health Department updates on West Nile

The Illinois Health Department says mosquitos are testing with high rates of the West Nile Virus in some parts of the state. The Bureau County Health Department's Carey Panier says no birds or mosquitos have tested positive for the virus in Bureau or Putnam County this year but people still need to take personal precautions because the virus is in state. This year, 28 counties have reported West Nile cases in mosquitoes, birds and people. Officials say some areas of northeastern Illinois are experiencing infection rates similar to 2002, when Illinois led the country in human cases and deaths.
