Farm Bureau warns of large implements on roads

Harvest season sees an increase in tractors, combines and other equipment on roadways. It also see an increase in car accidents. The Illinois Department of Agriculture says that six people were killed and 95 were injured last year in accidents involving cars and farm equipment. Bureau County Farm Bureau Manager Jill Frueh says it’s important to share the road with farmers. She says driver need to know when to slow down and through farm machinery lights…know when they’re making left turns. The department of agriculture says studies show that left-turn, rear-end and passing collisions are the most common types of accidents involving motorists and farm equipment.
