Peru benefiting from Japanese company expansion

Japanese Company Expanding Illinois Facility

The Japanese manufacturer Sakae Riken Kogyo Company is investing 35-million dollars to expand its facility in Peru, creating 25 new Illinois jobs.  The deal is one of several business and economic partnerships Governor Quinn announced during his trade mission throughout Asia.  The company  currently operates in Illinois under the name of Eakas Corporation.  It will more than double its existing facility in Peru from 257-thousand square feet to

537-thousand square feet in order to support its next generation of manufacturing.  Eakas Corporation produces plastic parts and other decorative trims for the automotive industry.   Illinois is supporting the expansion financially.  The town of Peru is getting a 675-thousand-dollar grant to support the new facility.  And the Eakas Corporation is getting 50-thousand dollars from the Illinois Jobs Now capital plan plus more than 334-thousand dollars in tax credits.
