Evacuation lifted, investigation continues into Tiskilwa train derailment

Still no word on a possible cause of Friday’s early-morning train derailment and ensuing explosions on the east side of Tiskilwa.  An investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board says the evacuation order has been lifted for all residents.  The NTSB is coordinating the investigation into the accident with local, state and federal agencies.  Two video cameras on the locomotive and the train’s event recorder were taken into NTSB possession and sent to Washington D.C. to be examined.  NTSB investigators are expected to remain

on the scene for a few more days.  The derailment happened at 2:18 Friday morning.  The 131-car train derailed 26 cars, some of which were hauling ethanol for Archer Daniels Midland.  The were no injuries or structural damage caused by the ensuing explosions.
