Bureau County Board rejects combining of precincts

In an attempt to save the county money, County Clerk Kami Hieronymus proposed to combine the precincts in Selby, LaMoille, Ohio and Westfield Townships. But at last night’s Bureau County Board meeting the motion to approve the proposal was defeated 10 to 14 largely because it was felt unfair to just combine those precincts when the cost savings would be for the entire county.  In other business, Board member Joe Bassetti announced the Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a hearing for the new wind farm ordinances on

October 20th, 7:00 p.m. in the courtroom at the Bureau County Courthouse. Board member Marshann Entwhistle announced the county has received 250-thousand dollars from the state to fix the east and west doors at the Courthouse. 168-thousand dollars has already been received and another 82-thousand will come later.  The following appointments were made by Board President Dale Anderson: new county board member Jeff Mangrich to replace Gary Forristall for District 4; Kris Donarski was re-appointed as Zoning Enforcing Officer and ESDA Coordinator for another 4-year term; and Scott Stoller, Joseph Taliano, and Jeff Hunt were re-appointed to the Ethics Committee for another 2-years.
