Arrest made in Ohio bank armed robbery

Tim GallagherAn arrest has been made in last week’s armed robbery of an Ohio bank. Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson says 36-year old Timothy Gallagher of rural Ohio was taken into custody today.   Just before 10 a.m. last Thursday, a man entered Citizens First State Bank on North Main Street in Ohio, displayed a gun and demanded money from the teller.  The thief then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.  Sheriff Thompson says information gathered during the investigation led his investigators to seek support from surrounding Sheriff's and police agencies.  With the support of Lee County Sheriff John Varga, Lee County State’s Attorney Henry Dixon and the Amboy Police Department, investigators executed a search warrant at 133 Northeast Avenue in Amboy in the early morning hours today during which a variety of related evidence was recovered including a significant amount of illegal narcotics. Lee County authorities say local criminal charges will apply.  As a result of the investigation, Gallagher was arrested and taken to the Bureau County jail where he remains. An arraignment will be scheduled by Bureau County State’s Attorney Pat Herrmann.
