Illinois EPA Wants Iowa Interstate Railroad To Pay For Damages

The aftermath of the Tiskilwa train derailment continues.  Officials with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency want Iowa Interstate Railroad to assess the damages of the ethanol spill after the derailment.  The IEPA wants the railroad company to conduct a speedy investigation on possible groundwater and soil contamination, propose measures for cleanup, and reimburse the IEPA for expenses they incurred.  More than 20 rail cars came off the tracks last Friday, forcing all 800 residents to evacuate the village.
