Advertising signs discussed for Zearing Park

zearing-park-signAt Monday night’s Princeton Park District meeting discussion took place concerning sponsorship advertising at Zearing Park. Board member Dick Volker was against any sort of advertising stating that the park district is community-minded and universal to all and should not favor one business over another. He also said that to him, advertising signs look “tacky”. But others on the board felt that memorials and advertising could be tasteful. Board member Bob Halberg said that there’s something nostalgic seeing signs around a ball diamond. President Gene Englehart said he felt it’s really

important that the board control the advertising. The board took no action at this time.  Executive Director Elaine Russell then announced that all 70 trees, purchased recently, have been planted, staked, mulched and fertilized at Zearing Park.  In other business, Attorney Drew Russell of Russell, English, Scoma, and Beneke Law Firm presented the board with a summary of bank bids for the 95-thousand dollar installment contract for purchasing the Hubbard property. The board approved Russell’s recommendation to accept the lowest bid which was from Midland States Bank.
