Princeton High School’s MAPS testing to help students

Assistant Principal Andy Berlinski reported on a testing process at last night’s PHS Board meeting. Called M-A-P-S or MAPS, it is a computer-based testing of three areas, Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics, given to every student as a universal screener based on Illinois standards. The results will show areas of deficits and strengths each student has. The R-I-T, or Response to Intervention, Committee will meet with teachers to go over the scores to determine specific plans to help the students improve. The test will be given again near the end of the year.  In other

business, the following students were selected as Students of the Month: Crystal Gee, Ann Sims, Matthew Van Den Bussch, Matt Vidican, Allie Hansen, and Cody Burrows.  The following action items were approved: the 2011 School Report Card; the FY2012 tuition rate Per Capita was set at $10,538; and the appointment of the Winter Coaches. They are: Jesse Brandt-head boys basketball coach with Michael Fredericks and Eric Tinley as assistants; Matt Huber as head girls basketball coach with Chris Yepsen as assistant; Steve Amy as head wrestling coach with Jesse Snyder as paid assistant and Kevin Amy, Ted Bartoli, Spencer Davis, Dennis Taylor, and Brian Taylor as volunteer wrestling assistants.
