Princeton searches for new City Manager
After reviewing four proposals from search firms and considering a local search, Princeton City Council decided to hire Voorhees Associates out of Deerfield, Illinois at last night’s Special City Council Meeting. The firm includes the Parr Group which the city used 8 or 9 years ago when they found Princeton’s first city manager, Andrew Brannen. Commissioner Terry Madsen said the council has worked with this firm before and they’ve done a
good job. Commissioner Bob Warren said he favored going with a firm because it takes the politics out of the equation. Voorhees Associates will charge the city fees not to exceed $17,400 to conduct the search. There will be additional charges for advertising, travel time, and candidate expenses. Salary will be discussed once a candidate is selected. The city manager’s salary in 2010 was $140,000 annually. Mayor Keith Cain said he hopes it doesn’t take very long to find the right candidate. The ordinance will be approved at the next regularly scheduled council meeting on Monday, November 21, 2011.
