Area school district may be ready to strike

An area school district may be on the verge of a strike.  The Streator Elementary teachers union is expected to vote this week whether or not to hit the picket lines.  By law, the union has to give at least 10 days notice of a strike with the Illinois Labor Relations Board. The union and district negotiating team met again last

night with a mediator.  Salary and insurance are the two top issues.  Streator elementary teachers have been without a new contract since the end of the last school year.
