La Salle County Circuit Clerk’s office gets suspicious envelope

The La Salle County Circuit Clerk’s office in the downtown Ottawa courthouse had to be closed around noon today after someone opened an envelope containing a suspicious white powder.  The envelope had arrived in the mail addressed to a La Salle County judge.  Although it’s not known exactly what the substance is, it was analyzed on-scene and found to be non-toxic and not hazardous.  No injuries were reported.  An investigation continues.
