Interstate 80 east of Princeton briefly shut down by van fire

No injuries are being reported after an incident closed Interstate 80, about a half-mile east of Princeton, for a short time last night.  A van caught fire, but the driver, a Princeton resident, was able to get clear of the fiery vehicle and call 9-1-1.  Princeton Firefighters arrived shortly after 7 pm to find the fire had consumed the van.  The westbound lane leading back to Princeton was shut down

for about 25 minutes while the fire was being put out and the van hauled away.  At its worst point, traffic was backed up about 2 miles shortly after 7:30.  It’s estimated Princeton firefighters used around 800 gallons of water to put out the fire and cool down the van.
