Princeton Police warn of latest scam

princetonpolicepatchThe Princeton Police Department is warning residents of the latest phone scam in our area.  Chief Tom Root says the scam involves someone calling, saying they’re a grandchild or other relative and are in trouble with the police or have been in an accident.  They ask for money so they can get out of jail or do repairs to their vehicle.  Some of the scams are from Mexico, and Root says the funds are usually sent as a money order or via Western Union.  You are never

to send money before checking with your local law enforcement.  Root says if you get such a call, contact the Princeton Police Department at 872-2351 or the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office at 875-3344.
