Unemployment rates fall in Bureau and Putnam counties

Unemployment is down slightly in Bureau and Putnam counties and unchanged in Marshall and La Salle counties, according to new figures from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.  The IDES reports unemployment in Bureau County slipped to 9.8 percent in October, down from 10.1 percent a year ago. The jobless rate also fell to 9.8 percent in Putnam County, down from 10.2

percent from last October.  La Salle County’s rate was 11.1 percent in October and Marshall County’s 7.6 percent, both unchanged from October of 2010.  Last month, Illinois led the nation in job growth with 30,000 seasonally-adjusted new jobs.  Nationally, the unemployment rate in October was 8.5 percent.
