Anti-Drug Group, Attorney General Target 'Binge In A Can'

(Rockford, IL)  --  A Rockford anti-drug group is warning parents about a can of alcohol sold in stores.  Drug Free Rockford says Blast by Colt 45 contains 12-percent alcohol and comes in fruity flavors.  That's brought the drink to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's attention.  She's now asking maker Pabst Brewing Company to lower the alcohol content of Blast, which also goes by the name "binge in a can."

Jacksonville Makes Cut For Great American Main Street Award

(Jacksonville, IL)  --  Jacksonville, Illinois, is one of ten semi-finalists for the Great American Main Street Award.  The award is given to a community for its efforts to revitalize business districts.  It was created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and has been given out since 1995.  The semi-finalist must now

submit additional background material and select up to five winners.

Bloomington Christmas Parade Draws Hundreds Who 'Still Believe'

(Bloomington, IL)  --  The 82nd Annual Jaycees Christmas Parade is history.  Hundreds of people turned out for the event in Bloomington on Saturday to see the dozens of floats and two area marching bands, despite the cold and rain.  The theme for this year's parade was "we still believe," which parade chairman Seth Carter says was left open-ended on purpose, "Because everybody believes in something different."
