A new energy project is in the works

A large crowd gathered at the Bureau County Metro Center yesterday to attend an Open House to learn about the Rock Island Clean Line, an electric transmission line project proposed for northern Bureau County. Project Development Manager for Clean Line Energy Cary Kottler said this meeting is necessary to get input

from those involved.  The Rock Island Clean Line will run from northwestern Iowa to Grundy County near Morris and will deliver up to 35-hundred megawatts of clean power to communities and businesses in Illinois and other states to the east. The energy will be transported via an approximately 500-mile long overhead, high voltage direct current transmission line. The project will cost approximately 1.7 billion dollars.
