Starved Rock killer Weger denied parole again
The man in prison for the Starved Rock murders has been denied parole again. At yesterday’s hearing, the Illinois Prisoner Review Board denied by an 8 to 5 vote Chester Weger’s request to be released. Weger was given a life sentence in 1960 for the murder of Lillian Oetting. He had originally confessed to the murders of three women, including Oetting’s two companions at Starved Rock, Mildred Lindquist and Frances Murphy. But Weger later recanted his confession and has sought a number of appeals. He’s been denied parole numerous times, thus becoming Illinois’ second-longest serving inmate. Weger will next be up for parole in October of next year.
