Area unemployment rate down slightly as new jobs are added

Officials with the Illinois Department of Employment Security say the market remains tough but new jobs are being added.  November’s unemployment numbers show the area down slightly from last November.  The jobless rate last month for Bureau County was 9.6 percent and Marshall County 7.6 percent.  La Salle and Putnam County’s jobless numbers remained in double digits, with La Salle County at 10.8 percent and Putnam County an even 10.  The IDES says over the year, jobs have been added in education and health services but lost in manufacturing and government.
