Man accused of stealing donation jar from Ottawa convenience store

An Ottawa man is in trouble for allegedly stealing a donation jar from a convenience store counter.  James Poggi reportedly swiped the jar from Casey’s General Store in Ottawa.  They money was to be used for the treatment of a 2-year old child with leukemia.  Although it’s believed the container had as much as 90-dollars in it, authorities were unable to recover the money because Poggi says he bought groceries with it.  Police say the incident was caught on a surveillance recording.  Poggi was indicted for felony retail theft and taken to the La Salle County Jail with bond set at $25,000.
