Searchers find missing Ransom woman

Tanya Shannon's body was found this morning in LaSalle County. The body, clad in a red dress and gray hooded sweatshirt, was found on the first day of renewed searching efforts. Shannon, 40, disappeared nearly a month ago, following a car crash that killed her husband, 41 year old Dale Shannon. Shortly after the accident, deputies found footprints in the snow leading away from the car, and law enforcement worked for several days before suspending the search on December 8th. LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton says Shannon's body was found in an open field about 3/4 of a mile southeast of the crash site. Her purse was found with her body. Templeton explains why the body wasn't found during earlier searches. An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week. Search efforts resumed Monday morning after last week's warm weather melted much of the snow in the area.
