Bureau County says yes to cleaning up Lake Depue

The Bureau County Board passed a resolution in support of cleaning up the contamination located in DePue and surrounding areas. Mayor Eric Bryant of DePue says he plans to hopefully gather the resolutions from each of the 103 counties and approximately 1000 municipalities in Illinois so they can be presented at an Illinois EPA hearing late this year or early in 2012. The mayor can’t remember a state-wide task like this being attempted by any other community. He is putting together a citizen action team to aggressively pursue this effort. In addition, all adults, teens, and school children are being asked to sign individual petitions which are available at www.villageofdepue.com.
