Snow plow crews pulled off the roads - Part of I-80 closed

Bureau County and Princeton snow plow crews were pulled off the roads Tuesday night due to whiteout conditions. According to Bureau County ESDA Coordinator Kristine Donarski, they could not keep up with the drifting and blowing snow. They planned to resume plowing Wednesday morning as conditions allow. Princeton City manager Jeff Fiegenschuh says city plows will be back out when his drivers can see the road. In addition, Interstate 80 is closed between Princeton and Ottawa. District 17 troopers were helping to find safe areas for stranded motorists and the Illinois National Guard has been activated to assist with stranded motorists on highways. A blizzard warning remains in effect until 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.
