Bishop Hill coming to Bureau County

A special program will reveal the past and present of an area historical site. The Tiskilwa Historical Society will host Bishop Hill’s Martha Downey to speak about the National Landmark Village. Downey says Bishop Hill was founded by Swedish religious leader Eric Jansson and his followers in 1846. She says their goal was to create their own “Utopia on the Prairie”. The program will be held at the Tiskilwa Historical Museum on 110 E. Main St., on Monday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m.
