A good night for windfarm supporters

     The extensions are passed. In a seventeen to seven vote with one abstention, a motion made by Joe Bassetti to extend the conditional use permits for Walnut Ridge Wind Farm was approved. The majority of the Bureau County Board decided to ignore the recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals and extend the permits to the year 2014. At last weeks meeting, the Zoning Committee voted to place the moratorium on the Board’s agenda, thinking it would give some time to amend outdated ordinances. A motion made by Loretta Volker to include a moratorium as an amendment to the wind farm ordinances was defeated seventeen to seven.
