DePue petition keeps moving along

DePue’s petition campaign entitled “We the People of Illinois” is making headway. Mayor Eric Bryant and the action committee began the effort to restore Lake DePue and cleanup the hazardous materials deposited in the area late last year. They sent out fourteen hundred letters to villages and counties throughout Illinois asking them to sign the support resolution. So far they have collected one hundred and thirty six resolutions from municipalities, which represents a population of slightly over five hundred and eighty-six thousand people. They have also gathered over forty-one hundred individual petitions. Bryant says he is pleased with the show of support. The campaign’s battle cry, “Restore the Lake Before It’s Too Late”, is beginning to be heard throughout the state and will continue until the public hearing is held in late 2011.
