LaSalle-Peru High School names new boys varsity basketball coach

LaSalle-Peru has a new varsity boys basketball coach.  Streator High School and Eastern Illinois University graduate Jim Cherveney was hired at Tuesday night’s school board meeting.  Cherveney spent last season at Plainfield East as sophomore head coach.  The job became available after the board decided to not retain former head coach Chad Hesterberg, who spent only one season as Cavaliers head coach.
