Investigations continue into a couple of area fires

Investigations continue into a couple of area fires.  An early Monday morning blaze destroyed a barn near Granville.  The fire at the barn at the corner of Power Plant Road and North Division Extension left two nearby homes with minor exterior damage.  Granville fire officials say the barn was a total loss.  It’s not known yet how the fire got started.

The Malden Fire Department responded to a rural house fire around midnight Tuesday morning.  The owner of the home, Dennis Anderson, his wife and daughter were able to get out of the home safely before the fire department arrived.  An electrical malfunction in the basement is believed to be the cause of the blaze, which caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.
