Vehicle strikes pole causing Princeton power outage

No injuries were reported but power was out for some Princeton residents following a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon at Fifth and East Peru Street. Princeton Fire Chief John Petrakis says a vehicle struck a utility pole, damaging the pole and causing downed power and cable lines to obstruct East Peru Street. Princeton Fire secured the accident scene and Princeton Police guided traffic while Princeton Electric secured the damaged utility pole, de-energized the power lines and moved them out of the way of traffic. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pole was NOT injured. The accident is under investigation by the Princeton Police Department.
