Bureau County Dental Clinic closed for now to new Medicaid adult patients

The Bureau County Dental Clinic is closed to new adult medicaid patients- at least for the time being.  At last night’s Bureau County Board meeting, Health Department Committee Chairperson, Loretta Volker, read a letter from Diana Rawlings of the Health Department. In it she expresses concern for the lack of adult dental services for people on Medicaid. Children are better covered and the department has tried to keep a balance between the number of adults and children served in order to preserve financial stability. But, Rawlings says, due to the economy, more adults are seeking appointments at the clinic.  In response to this situation, the clinic is temporarily not accepting new adult patients. It will, however, continue to see current adult patients and children. The situation will be re-evaluated in July.
