Shooting forces lockdown of Rock Falls schools

More details are being released about the shooting in Rock Falls that prompted a lockdown of several schools.  The shooting happened yesterday morning near Dillon Elementary School, but no staff or students were involved.  Police say the victim shot outside the school was a woman in her forties.  She was returning home after walking a child to school when a man approached and shot her twice in the head.  Police initially said the woman had been taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Later reports indicated the woman survived the shooting.  A witness says some children saw the shooting happen.  After a search, police found the suspect’s body inside a nearby apartment.  He had died of an apparent gunshot wound.  Police say the body of a woman was also found in the same apartment.  An investigation continues.
