2nd annual Living Works walk is Saturday
A walk to promote suicide awareness takes place Saturday morning in Princeton. The 2nd annual Living Works Suicide Walk begins with registration at 9 am at Darius Miller Park on North Main Street. The $20 per-person registration fee includes a tee-shirt and wristband. Children 10 and under walk free but don’t get a shirt. The 2.3 mile walk begins at 10 am and continues to Zearing Park on South Euclid Avenue, where a closing ceremony will include food, presentations, music and a signing wall for survivors to express thoughts and memories of those lost to suicide. The walk was the idea of Chris Compton of Princeton. She lost her son, Brandon, to suicide in 2006. She was impressed by the larger than expected turnout at last year’s inaugural event. Money raised through the walks is being used to train people in suicide prevention, including seminars and workshops. More information on Living Works is available online at livingworkssuicidewalk.com or facebook/livingworks. WZOE-AM will be broadcasting “on-location” from the event.
