Dangerous Heat Wave This Week

A dangerous heat wave is in store for the first half of this week.  Bureau and Putnam Counties are under a Heat Advisory from this afternoon through Wednesday.  Heat index values will hit 100 and higher during the next few afternoons, with regular highs in the 90s.  You’re advised to drink plenty of liquids, stay in air-conditioned environments and out of the sun and check on relatives, neighbors, the elderly, and pets.  Extreme heat has historically resulted in more deaths than any other weather related disasters  --  including tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, lightning and earthquakes combined.
