Princton City Council faces dilema with bids
A problem with bids for the Princeton Logistics Park EDA Grant was discussed at Monday’s Princeton City Council meeting. Advanced Asphalt and Fischer Excavating, Inc. were the only two bidders. But Advanced Asphalt didn’t turn in the correct specs for the hot mix asphalt four-inch base course. Senior Project Engineer Kevin Lindeman contacted Advanced Asphalt for clarification and gave them the opportunity to correct their bid. Terry Madsen asked City Attorney John Isaacson for his input. Isaacson was not informed of this discrepancy before the meeting and did not wish to comment at this time. The council then tabled the item to the next meeting until they could confer with the attorney.
In other business the council approved the following action items: An ordinance establishing a new stop sign at the intersection of First Street and West Warren Street; An ordinance authorizing the borrowing of funds from the Water Pollution Control Revolving Loan Program not to exceed four million dollars. This will cover expenses for the excess flow lagoon, to replace the sewer line on East Park Avenue, and overhauling Station #5; and an ordinance to increase the Electric Rates. Commissioner Robert Warren was the only “no” vote.
ltime employees are taking on extra responsibilities. A public hearing for the budget will be held on September 6th at 4:15 p.m. at the Metro Center. In other news, 95 degree weather brought out lots of swimmers at Alexander Park Pool as it opened yesterday.
