Princeton residents report natural gas odor

Princeton residents have been reporting natural gas odors in the city limits during the last 24 hours, according to Fire Chief John Petrakis.  He says his department investigated the complaints and contacted NiCor Gas and Ameren-CILCO.  Field technicians are working to diagnose the origin of the odor and residents are asked to cooperate with them, providing any assistance they may request.  In the meantime, Petrakis says if you do detect an odor of natural gas inside or outside your home, you should move to an area of safety, DO NOT use the telephone, a flashlight or any electrical switches, go outside your home and call NiCor Gas at 800-747-1470 or the Princeton Fire Department at 875-1861.
