Motorcycle driver killed in La Salle County

A three-vehicle accident in La Salle County has claimed the life of a motorcycle rider.  The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office says the crash took place at around 4:30 yesterday afternoon on Route 52 at the intersection with East 2603^rd Road in Mission Township.  The motorcycle driver was heading west on Route 52.  A southbound driver on East 2603^rd Road was stopped at the intersection and apparently didn’t see the motorcycle as he entered the intersection.  The westbound motorcycle was struck, went into the eastbound lane and was struck again by a third vehicle.  The motorcycle driver was taken to Ottawa Regional Hospital and flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he died.  The other drivers were not injured.  No names are being released yet, as the accident remains under investigation by the La Salle County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstructionist.
