Metro Center has increase in memberships
Executive Director Elaine Russell says $295,000 was budgeted in membership fees but the district has actually taken in a little over $300,000. That reflects an increase in memberships. Russell states she expects $12,000 to $15,000 more in fees this summer. But the board is also expecting a corporate loss of LCN memberships since they are no longer reimbursing their employees when joining the Metro Center. Russell anticipates three-fourths of LCN members will not renew their memberships. In other business, Russell and Board President Gene Englehart presented the idea of erecting a full-size windmill near the Zearing Park pond. The windmill looks similar to the old-time farm windmills and would aerate the pond. The frame would stand at 33 feet with the blades adding another 6 1/2 feet. The cost is between $2,500 to $3,000. The board is hoping that donations will cover that cost.
