Blagojevich Guilty In Corruption Trial

thumb_blago_frown     A federal jury today convicted former Governor Rod Blagojevich of corruption. Blagojevich showed no reaction as the jury found him guilty on 17 of 20 counts against him. The jury deadlocked on two counts and found him not guilty of one count. Jurors had barely begun their 10th day of deliberations when they told Judge James Zagel they had reached a verdict on 18 of 20 counts against the former governor.  Blagojevich likely faces a significant prison sentence and large fines.
Blagojevich Verdict This Afternoon

(Chicago, IL)  --  Rod Blagojevich [[ bla-GOYA-vitch ]] will learn his fate this afternoon in his federal corruption retrial.  Jurors have reached a unanimous verdict on 18 of the 20 charges against him.  They are deadlocked on the other two counts.  Last year, a jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on similar charges.  The former Illinois governor is accused of trying to sell President Obama's former U.S. Senate seat for cash and political favors.
