Home Rule or No Home Rule?

Home rule or no home rule. That's the question, as 19 Princeton citizens attended the first ad hoc home rule committee meeting last night. Attorney Kurt Froehlich of Evans, Froehlich, Beth and Chamley of Champaign, IL, specializes in State, Municipal and Public Authority Financing and Municipal Law. Froehlich gave a presentation about Home Rule, which, according to City Commissioner Joel Quiram, prompted a discussion on lowering Princeton's share of property taxes, funding for infrastructure improvements, and several other topics.  Overall, Quiram was pleased with the way the meeting went.  The next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bureau County Republican Newspaper Community Room. The public is invited to attend.
