Plank Road Bridge to be closed tonight

     If you'd planned on using the Plank Road Bridge near Peru tonight, be prepared for a short detour. The entire bridge over Interstate 80 will be closed tonight while large beams are placed for the new west half of the bridge. There will also be a minor inconvenience for those traveling I-80, as exit and entrance ramps will be used to detour interstate traffic around the overpass when the work is being done. As part of a $4.3 million project, Plank Road bridge is being removed and replaced with a wider structure. IDOT officials expect all work on the project to be finished by this fall.
