Alleged Attacker and victim hospitalized
Both a teenage girl stabbing victim and her alleged attacker are hospitalized after an incident early this morning in a Peru home. Peru police say a call came in around 2 am that a 15-year-old girl had been stabbed several times at a home in the 600 block of 11th Street. Her grandmother reportedly had also been struck in the head with an unknown object. The alleged attacker, a 29-year old man, apparently stole a car, wrecking it minutes later in the area of Chartres and Raccuglia Drive. He then was thwarted in an attempt at stealing another car from a La Salle trucking company. A worker there suffered a minor cut, but the attacker sustained his serious injuries when he jumped through a glass window. The wanted man was eventually caught in a wooded area near the trucking company by Peru Police officers and K-9. He didn’t put up a fight this time and was taken into custody. The wounded attacker and his alleged victim are now at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after being transferred from Illinois Valley Community Hospital. Their names aren’t being released. Police say the man had been staying at the Peru home where the stabbing occurred, for the past few weeks.
