No more meetings on Princeton's electric rates
The last of three Home Town Meetings on electric rates was held Thursday night at City Hall. Only seven people attended which was more than the other two meetings put together. The purpose of having these meetings was explained by City Manager, Jeff Fiegenschuh. Electrical Superintendent Jason Bird said the advantages of Princeton’s Municipally-owned Electric Utility are that it provides the residents with low priced electricity, superior levels of reliability, control of their destiny, and stimulus to the economy. Fiegenschuh said the benefits to Princeton is improved quality of life, economic development, broadband competition, retention of a customer base, and enhanced responses to power outages. When asked what the disadvantages to a city-owned utility are, Fiegenschuh said, quote, “there are none. I love local power. That’s one of the reasons I moved here.”
