Peru man pleads not guilty to attempted murder

The man accused of stabbing a 15-year old girl in Peru last month has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery.  A trial date of October 31 was set for 29-year-old Richard Vazquez of Peru, who allegedly stabbed the Iowa girl, sending her to a Peoria hospital.  Vazquez was hospitalized as well after jumping through a window while fleeing police.  He was taken into custody in La Salle.  Vazquez remains jailed on $250,000 bond.
