Route 34 accident kills Earlville man

An Earlville man is dead after an auto accident on Route 34 near Mendota. Police say 37-year old Danny Lassiter was traveling between Earlville and Mendota at around 9:30 yesterday morning when he tried to pass a van in front of him.  He crashed head-on with a semi-truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The truck driver was not injured.  Route 34 was shut-down for about four hours while the accident scene was cleared.
