Princeton Park District receives a special gift
Richard L. “Dick” Nelson of Princeton visited the Park District Board meeting last night with news of a financial donation. Nelson, a local businessman, entrepreneur and inventor, has written his autobiography entitled Paving the Road to Success and is gifting the proceeds from the sale of the book to the Bureau County Metro Center. Nelson was instrumental in the vision and building of the Center. Executive Director Elaine Russell says the board is appreciative. The book should be ready for sale by September 9th. In other business, Chris Boardman, Regional Director of Challenger Sports of Chicago, discussed some of the revenue possibilities for bringing soccer tournaments to Zearing Park. Boardman will prepare a proposal for his company to run the tournaments. In still other business, Recreation Coordinator Ryan Luecke reported that he is working with Jerry Weber to have a 7-on-7 football tournament this fall. Luecke is hoping to involve Spring Valley, Bureau Valley, and Ohio. He also wants to organize a half marathon in May of 2012 on Armed Forces Day.
