Man in critical condition after fall at Starved Rock State Park

Three Elmhurst men are in trouble after going out of bounds at Starved Rock State Park near Utica.  One of the men, 23-year old Michael Wangler, is in critical condition in a Peoria hospital after falling in one of the park’s canyons.  The three were hiking in a restricted area Tuesday afternoon when Wangler slipped and fell about 30 feet.  The two other men with him, 23-year old Thading Zychowski and 23-year old Greg Hamby, carried him from the park and drove him to Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.  He was then taken by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  All three men were charged with unlawful entry to a restricted area.
