LST-325 on display in Henry for Labor Day weekend
A piece of American history is docked in Henry for the Labor Day weekend. An LST ship from D-Day has traveled from Evansville, Indiana to Henry. The LST-325 is open for tours from 9 to 5 today through Tuesday. Hiram Brownwell, who does a lot of volunteer work with the ship, says the LST-325 has a rich history. The ship is docked on the Illinois River at the foot of the Route 18 bridge. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and $20 for families. There are also scrapbooks on display at the Henry American Legion. It’s part of a big Labor Day weekend in Henry. The American Legion hosts a fish fry at 5 today, an ice-cream social tomorrow at 8 p.m., and a pancake and sausage breakfast Sunday from 7 to noon followed by a car show from 3 to 7 at Central Park. Approximately 800 flags honoring area veterans are on display during the weekend at Stoner Park in Henry. Z-98 will broadcast on-location from 8 to 10 tomorrow morning from Henry.
