A little rain can't stop Homestead Festival announcements

The Bureau County Community Choir kept on singing in the rain and managed to finish their program Friday night. Then Diane Nyman of the Homestead Committee, presented Steve Samet, owner and general manager of Central Radio Group which includes WZOE AM, Z-98 FM, and WRVY in Henry, with a plaque and welcomed him as this year’s Homestead Festival Grand Marshal.  The baby contest winners were then announced by the Princeton Women’s Club. Second place girl winner is Olivia Murfin, daughter of Tim Murfin and Rebecca Keener; second place boy winner is Allister Swanson, son of Ray and Cheri Swanson; first place girl winner is Kylee Broadus, daughter of Cody Broadus and Holly Swanson; and first place boy winner is Adyn Bublitz, son of Kari Richardson and Brian Bublitz.  Diane Nyman also announced the window decorating contest winners. They are: in the Historical-Collector category, third place, the Red Hats in the Four Seasons window; second place, the Bureau County Genealogical Society in their own window; and first place, the Bureau County Historical Society also in the Four Seasons window. In the Club-Organization category, third place went to PES Plays in Main Street Dance window; second place, Bureau Valley Hospice in Kirby-Henning Pharmacy window; and first place goes to the Daughters of the American Revolution in Sherwin Williams’s window. In the Commercial category, third place went to Krieger Time in their own window, second place, Colonial Hall in Good Scents window, and first place goes to Kirby-Henning Pharmacy in their own window. Our congratulations goes to all those honored during the 2011 Homestead Festival.
