Three-time champ defends Wise Guys burger-eating crown

The Wise Guys Burger Eating Contest was “consuming”. Huge one-pound hamburgers with all the works were placed before the contestants. Large glasses of water were within reach. Excitement filled the air. The crowd gathered at Wise Guys Saturday morning and began the countdown…..three, two, one. And eleven men and one small boy began to devour their food. For the third year in a row and with a time of one minute 48 seconds Ron Benavento finished his hamburger first.  When asked how he felt, he said he felt good.  He said he always skips breakfast the morning of the event.  Doug Jaggers finished second and Steven Donovan third. For his win, Benavento received a trophy and a $100 gift certificate to Wise Guys.
